RFK Jr. Pledges Silk Road Pardon, Bitcoin's Network Reaches 90%, LayerZero's Token Meets Controversy

Algoine News
Summary:
Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has pledged to pardon Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht if he's elected. Bitcoin's blockchain network usage has surpassed 90% capacity for the first time since a halving event in April. LayerZero's newly launched ZRO token has faced controversy due to a donation requirement to claim tokens, causing it to fall 17% after launch.
Presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Jr. pledges to release Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the Silk Road, a darknet market, if his campaign proves successful. If his expected third place finish behind incumbent Joe Biden and previous president Donald Trump holds true, Kennedy has an alternative plan: petitioning for Ulbricht's release and promoting the cause on social media. He also accuses Biden and Trump of colluding with CNN to exclude him from the debates. Following the digital currency Bitcoin's halving event in April, its blockchain network usage marks a significant milestone - for the first time, it is operating at over 90% capacity, indicating increased activity. According to a chart by Dune Analytics user Cryptokoryo, Bitcoin had a dominant 91.4% share in transactions, leaving just 8.6% for Runes, BRC-20, and Ordinals. New standard tokens, Runes and BRC-20, account for this heightened activity post-halving, with Runes transactions reaching over 750,000 on April 23. LayerZero, a cross-chain interoperability protocol, faces controversy over the launch of its new ZRO token, which crashed by 17%. The cause of controversy was a prerequisite for donations to claim the tokens, seen by some as a "tax". Despite the initial surge of 15.15% in value to $4.71 within 20 minutes of the launch, ZRO fell by 22% in the following two hours, emulating a pattern familiar to token airdrops. The obligatory donations are projected to raise around $18.5 million for Protocol Guild, a funding entity for Ethereum developers. Critics argue this requirement changes the essence of the typical token "airdrop", making it more like an initial coin offering (ICO).
