OpenAI Updates GPT-4 Turbo Model: Enhances Dataset Until December 2023

Algoine News
Summary:
OpenAI has subtly updated the training dataset for its premier model, GPT-4 Turbo, to include data up until December 2023, as per its official website. This constitutes an additional eight months of information compared to its previous update. The aim is to eliminate 'laziness', where the model fails to complete assigned tasks. The update follows OpenAI's recent reveal of its advanced text-to-video model, Sora. Also, the company's valuation surged to $80 billion recently, according to a New York Times report.
OpenAI, the artificial intelligence (AI) developer, has discretely enhanced the training data set of its premier model, GPT-4 Turbo, to include information up until December 2023, as per the details on its official website. This under the radar update, which wasn't broadly publicised by OpenAI, positions Turbo as the company's most contemporary model, enriched with data up until the close of 2023. In contrast, OpenAI's freely available model, GPT 3.5, only houses data relevant till January 2022. The purpose of this modification, as stated on the website, was to curb the phenomenon developers term as "laziness" in a model, a tendency to not fulfill the tasks assigned. During DevDay in November, OpenAI made public its new models and developed products, stating that GPT-4 Turbo would be aware of current happenings up to April 2023. Hence, the model receives an additional eight months' worth of information with this recent update. Notably, OpenAI's last update on January 25 did not mention this modification to the training dataset of GPT-4 Turbo. Several users reported their preview appearing unupdated to reflect December 2023, instead echoing the data from the last update, i.e., April 2023. However, some users confirmed that their model positively identified December 2023 as the latest update to the data pool. OpenAI's groundbreaking update to its most advanced model coincides with the reveal of its innovative text-to-video model Sora, which captivated social media users with its strikingly realistic creations. Claimedly, Sora can fabricate film-like scenes featuring multiple characters, detailed motions, and backdrop details in up to 1080p resolution. Yet, the model isn't ready for a public launch, according to OpenAI. In a recent report on February 17 by The New York Times, OpenAI's valuation soared to a staggering $80 billion following its latest deal. The company is currently liaising with global investors and government bodies to secure funding to foster in-house AI chip development.
