Musixy.ai Aims to Become the "Spotify for AI Hit Songs" in the Music Industry

Algoine News
Summary:
Music streaming platform Musixy.ai aims to become the go-to platform for AI-generated music, positioning itself as the "Spotify for AI hit songs." The platform embraces AI technology, allowing talented producers to efficiently create and monetize hit songs with famous voices in any language. Musixy.ai's unique focus on AI-generated vocals and collaborations with artists and labels present new possibilities for the music industry. The CEO of Musixy.ai argues for the recognition of AI-generated music in prestigious awards like the Grammys, suggesting the creation of a separate category or distinguishing the specific tasks AI performs in music production.
The utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) has generated significant impact across various industries worldwide. However, the creative sectors have been grappling with the conflict between the advantages of AI and its potential infringement on intellectual property (IP). Remarkably, key players in the music industry, encompassing artists, record labels, and institutions like the Grammys and YouTube, have been compelled to confront the integration of AI in different forms. While traditional spaces in the music industry are still combating technology, new platforms have emerged that fully embrace AI from the outset. One such platform is Musixy.ai, which launched on September 14th, aiming to serve as a streaming platform, label, and marketplace exclusively for music generated by AI. To gain further insight into the potential impact of AI on the future music industry, Cointelegraph interviewed Can Ansay, the CEO and founder of Musixy.ai. Musixy.ai plans to become the equivalent of "Spotify for AI hit songs," particularly those banned from other platforms. Notably, major streaming platforms, including Spotify, have become more proactive in monitoring copyrighted AI tracks after Universal Music Group urged them to enhance their policing efforts. According to Ansay, the "establishment" or major labels are once again in a state of panic, reminiscent of the Napster era, due to the perceived threat of revenue loss posed by this disruptive technology. Unlike in previous instances, the AI revolution is not only legally permissible but also jeopardizes the existence of record companies. Ansay believes that AI offers "talented producers" the ability to create and monetize hit songs with the voices of famous singers in any language, significantly enhancing efficiency and reducing costs. Musixy.ai particularly emphasizes the production of new and covered hit songs featuring AI-generated vocals of renowned artists. Musixy.ai collaborates with Ghostwriter, who produced a viral song called "Heart on My Sleeves" using AI-generated vocal tracks imitating the voices of Drake and the Weeknd. Initially perceived as a potential Grammy nominee, it was later clarified by the Grammy CEO that the song had been removed from commercial streaming platforms and lacked permission from the artist or label to use their vocal likeness, rendering it ineligible for nomination. Ansay believes that if Musixy.ai is recognized as a streaming platform by the Recording Academy, these exceptional AI-assisted songs would finally receive the Grammy recognition they deserve. This is particularly relevant for songs that were banned from other recognized streaming platforms due to using famous singers' vocals through AI assistance. Ansay argues that from a legal perspective, the concept of vocal likeness is not "protectable" as it would undermine professional ethics and impede singers from working with voices resembling more famous figures. Instead, he suggests that AI vocal tracks should be labeled as "unofficial" to avoid confusion. Recently, rumors circulated that Google and Universal Music Group were negotiating a tool that would enable the legal creation of AI tracks using the likenesses of artists. When asked whether AI-generated music should compete with non-AI-generated music for awards and recognition or have its own separate category, Ansay opined that both directions could be viable. He suggested the need to distinguish the specific tasks for which AI is employed in music production within the rules of the Grammys. Alternatively, he proposed the creation of a new category, such as "AI Song of the Year," to recognize excellence in the field. Ansay justified this suggestion by referring to the Grammy's mission statement, which emphasizes the recognition of excellence in science.
