Bitcoin Miner Reserves Plunge; Shkreli Links Barron Trump to DJT; Kraken, CertiK Clash Over Hack

Algoine News
Summary:
Bitcoin reserves with miners have hit a 14-year low, according to IntoTheBlock data. Former convict, Martin Shkreli, claims Barron Trump launched the DJT token with Donald Trump's approval and that he holds the private keys to it. A dispute has arisen between crypto exchange Kraken and audit firm CertiK over a recent security breach, with varying views on whether it was a white-hat or black-hat hack.
The amount of Bitcoin in possession of BTC miners has plunged to the lowest since 14 years ago, as indicated by data from IntoTheBlock. Controversial figure Martin Shkreli, alias “Pharma Bro”, stated in a seven-hour X Spaces on Wednesday that Barron Trump, the son of Donald Trump, played a significant role in the creation of the Solana-based DJT token. Meanwhile, cryptocurrency exchange Kraken and audit company CertiK are involved in a dispute over the nature of a recent security breach – whether it was orchestrated by white-hat or black-hat hackers. In the past year, miners' Bitcoin reserves experienced a downward trend, with the quantity dwindling from 1.95 million BTC at the starting of 2022, down to 1.90 million Bitcoin as of June 19th. Lucas Outumuro, the head of research at IntoTheBlock, explains that miners are inclined to sell off their Bitcoin reserves in response to shrinking profits due to halving effects. Shkreli, former inmate serving six-plus years for fraudulent securities activities, alleges that Barron Trump initiated TrumpCoin (DJT) with the blessing of his father, owning the private keys linked to the token's smart contract address. He added that Trump's son had sought him for assistance in launching the token, now valued at $146 million, on the Solana network. Neither Barron Trump nor his representatives have publicly commented on the issue. Shkreli asserted in a Mario Nawfal-hosted X Spaces that his role was purely advisory in nature, and insisted that Barron Trump was the authentic founder of DJT. Further, he implicated the involvement of cryptocurrency personality "Ansem". Blockchain security company CertiK has reportedly claimed responsibility for the controversial bug bounty claim involving Kraken's crypto exchange. According to the exchange, a group exploited several accounts to siphon off $3 million in assets, with Kraken refraining from directly naming CertiK. CertiK is said to have requested a reward from the Kraken bug bounty team but had allegedly exposed the vulnerability to two other accounts, resulting in the unauthorized removal of funds. CertiK insists that the funds will be returned to an account accessible by Kraken, although the exchange stresses that the funds remain unreturned. On the flip side, CertiK alleges that Kraken intimidated their researcher and demanded the refund of an inconsistent amount of money.
