Presently, a node is priced at approximately $1,000, which, despite not representing a significant financial value, indirectly achieves the project's goal which is to decentralize Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and establish the "internet of AI". SingularityNET's founder, Dr. Ben Goertzel, serves as the chief AI scientist for the project, mainly because current blockchains fail to deliver the necessary speed and synchronization for AI. HyperCycle adopts the TODA communication protocol, Proof of Reputation, and an adapted version of proof-of-work along with Cardano’s Hydra. Saliba informed Cointelegraph during a recent interview at the Beneficial AGI Summit in Panama that each transaction is finalized within an impressive timeframe of about 300 milliseconds.
Reflecting on the conference's theme, Saliba cautioned that the swift evolution of AGI into a superintelligence would grant tremendous power to any centralized organization or authoritarian nation that pioneers its development. Saliba, who has over a decade of AI experience, firmly believes that decentralized governance is the only secure method to generate a beneficial AGI.
Currently, HyperCycle's primary focus lies in connecting AI businesses in a B2B setting. Each node within the HyperCycle framework holds a virtual machine, transaction machine, and AI machine, allowing for an average of 150 AI agents per node to interact and carry out transactions. To illustrate, Saliba cited an instance where an Optical Character Recognition AI application encountering text in Aramaic, a language over 3,000 years old, could instantly avail the services of an AI adept in Aramaic OCR through a smart contract microtransaction.
Saliba also disclosed that a widely recognized deepfake video application utilizes the HyperCycle network, and discussions around the "internet of AI" have taken place with Nvidia, but did not divulge further details. Businesses incorporating these nodes are primarily interested in monetizing their AI agents or diminishing their own substantial AI computation costs, rather than saving humanity or cryptocurrency, according to Saliba. The goal remains to reduce costs, turning a $200,000 bill into a $120,000 one.
A potentially game-changing, but purely theoretical idea is that the collaboration of AIs may, in itself, pave the way towards AGI. Saliba muses that the collaborative network might facilitate AGI through the sum of the AIs in the network exceeding their individual capabilities. Drawing a comparison to a colossal brain, he suggested that each AI node could function as a neuron capable of firing in unison. The global propagation of these nodes could likely expedite the realization of AGI. In this scenario, he envisions a greater likelihood of the entire world reaching AGI collectively.
