In contrast, LVMH maintains that people will continue to be integral to the creative process in the luxury sector, adding that "While the creative process is predominantly human-based, generative artificial intelligence can further aid in its enhancement." A major use of this generative AI tech at LVMH is to expedite and minimize the expenses of launching new merchandise. Notably, Robin Li, the CEO and Co-Founder of Baidu, also foresees artificial general intelligence (AGI) easing fears linked with diminishing populations. Recently, the technology world has seen a surge in AI investments, reflected in Elon Musk’s firm bagging $6 billion in a Series B financing round. This capital injection is intended to position its AI-powered chatbot Grok as a potential rival to ChatGPT by 2024's end. This noteworthy funding round brings xAI's value to $24 billion, less than a year since the firm's inception in July 2023. Against this backdrop, LVMH is progressing with in-house AI development. Early in 2024, LVMH launched MaIA, an in-house AI chatbot incorporating privacy-safe features, built on OpenAI’s GPT-4 basic model. To extend in-house AI proficiency, LVMH provided AI training to 1,500 staff members during 2023, with a target of expanding this to more than 10,000 staff members in due course. LVMH's MaIA was created in partnership with the Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence at Stanford University.
