Beniamin Mincu, CEO of blockchain-centered metaverse platform MultiverseX, proposes that Apple's spatial computing-oriented approach is more aligned with the objective of the metaverse than Meta's singular VR focus. During a distinct interaction with Cointelegraph's Zhiyan Sun, Mincu expressed that Meta's VR concentration could potentially be a misstep due to its lack of intuitive usability, while Apple's spatial computing focus provides a more user-friendly and intuitive experience with the AR glasses. He emphasized that Meta's glasses are strictly limited to a specific virtual world, whereas the metaverse is more about facilitating participatory interactions within the virtual realm. The glasses are aimed at addressing a single use scenario rather than a variety of them.
"I think viewing a spatial computing device or interface as a lens is a game-changer," Mincu stated, underscoring the overlooked revolution ignited by Apple. "This is why spatial computing, though seemingly similar, represents a completely different world."
Spatial computing is essentially about capturing, processing, and engaging with 3D data, encompassing a range of technologies such as IoT, digital twins, ambient computing, augmented reality, virtual reality, AI, and physical controls. The MultiversX CEO further elaborated that the platform's technical enhancements, launched on October 19, will well-align with the spatial computing method, thus enhancing scalability. The update introduces pivotal features to the platform, including early block proposals, parallel node processing, consensus signature checks, and dynamic gas cost refinements. Such improvements are anticipated to exponentially enhance transactional efficiency by up to seven times, ensuring quicker confirmation times and shortened finality. Noteworthy alterations also include the implementation of on-chain governance, an upgraded virtual machine, and an enhanced relayed transaction model, which would enable network-operating tokens to bear gas expenses.
