Web3 game Wilder World has secured a listing on the Epic Games Store, although a launch date is pending. The game, built on a proprietary blockchain, offers a free-roam virtual world with all items, including land and avatars, traded as digital assets on its dedicated marketplace. Wilder World aims to integrate different game genres into one experience, overcoming limitations of traditional AAA games. The team is collaborating with Polygon and Celestia for a scalable blockchain, and Metagravity to host thousands of players. The game will also eventually run on a proprietary cloud gaming system, with limited functionalities set to launch over 12-18 months.
The web3 game Wilder World has been included in the Epic Games Store's lineup, although an official launch date has yet to be confirmed. Wilder World, which its creator of the same name refers to as the “ultimate game,” encompasses a virtual free-roaming universe commencing in Wiami, a city in the metaverse. According to a press release shared with Cointelegraph, players can navigate, compete, socialise, and more within this environment. The entire inventory, including land, equipment, and avatars, will be digitally tradable on the Wilder World marketplace. Frank Wilder, the Co-founder of Wilder World remarked in pride on their listing on the Epic Games store, envisioning it as a stride towards next-gen metaverse gaming. His team aims to build a unique virtual space for gaming, interaction, and earning capabilities via innovative technology. Wilder World aims to blend top gaming genres for a unified extraordinary experience, countering the limitations of traditional AAA games such as Grand Theft Auto and Cyberpunk. The development milestones for Wilder World include the fusion of racing, mining, and first-person-shooter genres to form an all-encompassing game. The game’s infrastructure relies on a unique blockchain. The team is reportedly collaborating with Polygon and Celestia to construct a customised, scalable blockchain system to maintain low fees and partner with Metagravity to support virtual worlds populated by thousands of participants. It is further stated that the game will operate on a self-owned cloud gaming system in the future. As declared in a blog post on the Wilder World website, a dedicated cloud gaming service is under active development utilising NVIDIA GPUs. This service aims to ensure superior reliability, hardware assurance, and optimisation for metaverse and web3 gaming. However, the blog cautions that this is a preliminary development stage and mentions that Wilder World will be accessible via Nvidia's gaming streaming service Geforce NOW upon launch. According to the team’s proposed timeline, staggered feature releases are expected over the next 12-18 months. The first phase, or “Act I,” will introduce racing, while “Act III” will see the release of combat features.
