Trezor is also offering Bitcoin-only versions of Trezor Safe 3 and Trezor Safe 5 wallets.
Trezor, a leading provider of cryptocurrency hardware wallets, has launched a new product and a dedicated introductory service to address the usability challenges in cryptocurrency. The one-on-one onboarding service, Trezor Expert, has been launched with the goal of assisting users in setting up self-custodial crypto wallets securely. As privacy, security, and usability are the key drivers for growth in the use of self-custodial wallets, Trezor aims to spread understanding among its users about how to avoid mistakes in their crypto self-custody journey. In contrast to entrusting cryptocurrency keys to platforms like Coinbase, self-custody offers users full control over their Bitcoin at the expense of having to learn to manage it themselves. The Trezor Expert service, designed to alleviate this learning curve, is priced at $99 and can be availed on Trezor's website. Trezor CEO Matej Zak unveiled Trezor Expert on June 14 during the BTC Prague 2024 event after a short beta phase. Zak believes the service provides users a platform to familiarize themselves with the security implications of self-custody while understanding safe online practices and private key management techniques. Trezor launched a new product alongside the service, the Trezor Safe 5 hardware wallet, which offers enhanced security with an EAL 6+ certified secure element and better usability features. The wallet provides an improved recovery seed backup process consisting of 20 words, which is an upgrade over the traditional 12 or 24-word seed phrase or private key. The device even offers a secure multi-share Shamir backup solution to recover the wallet if a private key is lost. The latest addition to Trezor's product lineup, which already includes Trezor Model One, Trezor Model T, and Trezor Safe 3, caters to a specific user base and serves unique needs. The Trezor Safe 5 sells for $169 and promises maximum security along with convenient usability. Trezor has also introduced an unlimited version of Bitcoin-only Trezor Safe 3 and Trezor Safe 5 wallets for public sale. These wallets are similar to standard Trezor wallets in terms of security, catering to Bitcoin maximalists who prefer a Bitcoin-only experience devoid of other currencies.
