T-Mobile Announces Bitcoin Mining Plans; Expands Role in Web3 and AI Platforms

Algoine News
Summary:
Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile has announced plans to mine Bitcoin, building on its existing cryptocurrency activities. The telecom giant has been running a Bitcoin node and Bitcoin Lightning nodes since 2023. Also participating as a Polygon validator and a validator on the Fetch.ai blockchain, T-Mobile actively leverages its extensive infrastructure in the Web3 environment to foster new revenue streams and support AI-driven autonomous services.
Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile unveiled plans for Bitcoin (BTC) mining, augmenting its ongoing engagement with cryptocurrency. Since 2023, the telecom company has been operating a Bitcoin node and running Bitcoin Lightning nodes. Dirk Röder, the Head of Web3 Infrastructure and Solutions at Deutsche Telekom, brought this up at BTC Prague, hinting at the company's upcoming venture into 'digital monetary photosynthesis'. In response to ex-Cointelegraph contributor Joseph Hall's request for clarification on 'digital monetary photosynthesis', Röder kept it cryptic asserting, "We will." (Source: Daniel Sempere Pico) T-Mobile has been firmly footed in the Web3 universe for a while, having been a Polygon validator from June 2023. This has allowed the company to harness its considerable infrastructure and carve out new opportunities for revenue generation. As a critical part of the platform's 100 validators, Deutsche Telekom has participated in staking and validation services for Polygon over a year and has backed the Platform’s proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism. Since February, Deutsche Telekom has collaborated with Fetch.ai, a decentralized AI platform. Their partnership aims to craft enterprise AI. Supporting Fetch.ai's AI-driven autonomous agents as a validator on the Fetch.ai blockchain, the telecom company is powering services in healthcare, automotive, supply chain management, and digital identities. These autonomous agents manage resources, conduct transactions, and analyze traffic flows.
