The rising prominence of blockchain technology has stimulated interest among students and burgeoning entrepreneurs, with many demonstrating a grasp of the technology’s potential. Sui Foundation’s managing director, Greg Siourounis, discussed in an interview with Cointelegraph about their plans to set up a blockchain academy in partnership with the American University of Sharjah, a well-known institution based in the United Arab Emirates. In a conversation with Cointelegraph correspondent Ezra Reguerra during a Sui meet-up in Dubai, Siourounis detailed his ambition to enhance the understanding of blockchain technology and its potential for crafting platforms and applications to tackle real-world challenges among the student community. According to Siourounis, they won't just conduct seminars and workshops to impart blockchain knowledge to young minds, but also guide them through what blockchain can accomplish and its constraints. Siourounis reported his surprise upon discovering that the majority of the students already had some exposure to blockchain technology. During a presentation session, Siourounis found that seven out of 10 ideas from students incorporated blockchain into their solutions. This observation indicated to Siourounis that youths are starting to appreciate the value of blockchain technology. He underscored the necessity of providing these young innovators with the resources they require to deepen their comprehension of blockchain potentials and limitations. He also stressed the importance of shielding them from the ongoing spread of inaccurate information about blockchain technology by equipping them with the right tools and filters to sift through information. This blockchain academy is in line with Sharjah’s aspiration to become a center for blockchain studies and learning. The university's chancellor, Tod Laursen, confirmed that the academy plans to offer students cutting-edge topics that can prepare them for the ever-changing world.
