Esteemed Hong Kong filmmaker Stephen Chow, popular for the remarkable movie Kung Fu Hustle, debuted his profile image nonfungible token (NFT) series called "Nobody" earlier this month. As of now, trading activity for the collection has exceeded 9,695 Ether ($23 million) and a daily volume of 2,713 Ether (ETH). Coinciding with this, Chow swapped his display picture on X and Instagram to a Nobody Avatar, inviting ideas for potential community events related to Nobody and urging his followers to adopt Nobody Avatars as well.
In terms of the future of the Nobody series, the developers assured of their commitment to promote Nobody IP (Intellectual Property), leveraging the past successes of Stephen Chow and introducing innovative strategies to popularize the Nobody IP through distinguished works, thus overcoming the prior hindrances experienced by Web3 native IP in making inroads into the conventional Web2 market.
On January 10, Chow collaborated with OKX, the digital currency exchange, to deliver a Nobody NFT whitelist giveaway. This saw participation from over 125,000 users, with 2,500 Nobody NFTs in the offing. The total count of Nobody NFTs is limited to 10,000. According to the developers, owners of the Nobody collectibles will get the chance to contribute to the project's progression and avail a gamut of special privileges ranging from making proposals and co-creation to voting and participating in the creation of Nobody IP.
The inception of this collection was announced on December 6, 2023, when Chow disclosed his plan to join forces with Chinese-American rapper Jin Au-Yeung, popularly known as MC Jin, for the creation of Nobody NFTs. The collection is made available on the Moonbox platform - a Hong Kong-based AI & Web3 startup focusing on launching AI-driven NFTs centered around arts and the film industry. Chow is recognized as the inaugural content creator on the platform. Moonbox concluded a funding round worth $2.5 million at a $50 million valuation, led by OKX Ventures, in August 2023.
