In a collaboration with Microsoft, Siemens, a German tech firm, has unveiled its new AI-driven assistant - the Siemens Industrial Copilot. Introduced on October 31, this AI helper seeks to facilitate "cooperation between humans and machines", with the intention of boosting productivity. As part of their plans, they disclosed the building of further AI assistants to cater to experts in sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, transport, and infrastructure. Both companies aim to extend the positive impacts of generative AI globally. They plan to introduce Copilots particularly in the automotive, consumer goods, and machinery production sectors in manufacturing. The Siemens Industrial Copilot is already being used by German automotive producer Schaeffler AG, according to Microsoft. Satya Nadella, the Microsoft's CEO and Chairperson, anticipates the upcoming AI generation stirring up innovation "throughout the whole industrial sector". Siemens AG's CEO, Roland Busch, echoed this notion: "This could potentially transform how companies design, create, manufacture, and operate." He highlighted that the availability of human-machine collaboration allows engineers to expedite their code development, foster innovation, and address any workforce shortages. In contrast, Bosch, a German counterpart of Siemens, allied with the Fetch.ai Foundation earlier in the year to commence a $100 million grant initiative supporting projects in Web3, AI, and IoT development. Bosch was also spotted at the IAA Mobility Fair in Munich, Germany in September, showcasing its advancements in the automotive industry, in cooperation with the EU and blockchain corporations. Ever since OpenAI unveiled GPT-4 in November 2022, AI has been creating significant impact in various sectors around the world.
