Algoine News
Summary:
Richard Robinson, CEO of AI legal companion RobinAI, has highlighted the importance of human intervention in preventing AI hallucinations - inaccurate or false outputs, interpretations, or predictions by AI systems. RobinAI, an AI tool for understanding legal documents supported by Anthropic’s Claude 2.1, recently raised $26 million in Series B funding. The company believes AI's role is to assist, rather than replace, legal professionals. Meanwhile, U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts predicts AI will have a significant impact on evolution of legal work.
Richard Robinson, Chief Executive Officer of AI legal companion RobinAI, insists that the secret to curbing AI hallucinations lies in human intervention, rather than technology. He emphasized during a Cointelegraph interview, that it's crucial for legal experts to have adequate oversight when utilizing these tools. Robinson pointed out that while artificial intelligence is potent, it can't replace human aspects like judgment. AI can streamline routine duties, but its output must be verified instead of being accepted as complete. AI Hallucinations are scenarios where AI systems produce incorrect or false results, interpretations, or forecasts. This underlines the potential for AI algorithms to yield results that deviate from reality or anticipated outcomes, causing faults or misunderstandings in how they operate. A tool to counteract these hallucinations was developed by scientists from China's University of Science and Technology and Tencent's YouTu Lab in October. As an AI tool specifically designed to comprehend legal documents, RobinAI, backed by Anthropic’s Claude 2.1, secured $26 million in Series B funding, spearheaded by Singaporean investment firm Temasek. This was revealed by the company on Wednesday. The CEO stressed that the company doesn’t support the notion of AI dehumanizing legal services, citing that its technology primarily aids lawyers instead of making them redundant. As Robinson puts it, the name and concept of their product are grounded in the belief that this technology should augment and assist lawyers rather than supplant them. Globally renowned search engine Google saw a 40% improvement in coding when it trained an AI model in utilizing other AI models. Instead of choosing formidable competitor OpenAI as its launch partner, RobinAI opted for Anthropic, as the company found its LLM features, such as a broad context window, more suitable for evaluating lengthy and intricate legal documents. The end-of-year report for the Supreme Court, released on December 31 by United States Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, reveals that he believes AI will have a substantial impact on the legal field. Justice Roberts believes that AI will be an unequivocal force to aid the current judicial system's objectives of enforcing the Federal Rules of Civil Procedures for prompt, cost-effective, and fair case settlement. In 2023, the AI Eye magazine has listed top AI tools, peculiar DEI image guidelines, and 'based' AI bots.
