Following a joint notice by OpenAI, an AI development organization, and Arizona State University (ASU), a premier research university in the U.S, a novel affiliation to utilize 'ChatGPT Enterprise' in post-secondary education has been announced. Identified as the pioneering post-secondary establishment to collaborate with OpenAI, the partnership was publicly shared on 18th January. From February, ASU's faculty and staff are invited to propose novel applications for ChatGPT Enterprise. ASU's major areas of focus encompass augmenting student success, exploring new pathways for transformative research, and simplifying operational procedures. Lev Gonick, ASU's chief information officer, approximated about two-thirds of establishments are investigating the integration of AI. Gonick stated that "Our aim at ASU is to adopt our core understanding to devise AI-centric projects enhancing educational methodologies, supporting academic research, and escalating administrative productivity." Further, he stated the provision of high-level AI tools equalizes the opportunities for everyone to deploy AI for creative, inventive objectives. Last year, ASU demonstrated its commitment to "probing all aspects of AI," and made an announcement about the commencement of AI Acceleration, a fresh team of technologists devoted to inventing future AI tools. "The collaboration with OpenAI will bolster the creation of innovative solutions as part of our team’s ongoing efforts," per the university's public statement. Gonick suggested: "If the preceding year has seen generative AI making its mark, then 2024 will be a period of practicable experimentation and utilization to tap the true potential of this technology." In addition, OpenAI has shown keen interest in forging new alliances this year, with prospective tie-ups with media powerhouses like CNN, Fox, and Time to safeguard news content licensing. ASU was approached by Cointelegraph for more information on their latest collaboration.
