In a speech at Paris' Viva Tech function in 2024, Amodei stated that contemporary AI systems comprise hundreds of millions of neurons. He highlighted the discovery of 30 million features within their model, including those connected with security vulnerabilities or bias against particular groups. The capability to intervene and alter these features has now been gained.
The issue with hallucinations is that AI processes are not aware that their output is incorrect. But Amodei reassures that these fresh features could potentially put an end to AI hallucinations. He asserts, "The primary advantages of this new discovery include reducing instances of artificial intelligence hallucinations."
Research is currently underway at Anthropic to explore how modifying internal features can change AI behavior. They've managed to create a demonstration model where one unique feature caused the AI to highly concentrate on the Golden Gate Bridge. On May 23, Anthropic expressed confidence in an X post, "The ability to identify and modify these features within Claude reinforces our confidence in starting to comprehend how extensive language models truly operate."
Anthropic, an esteemed AI development company, introduced its AI chatbot, Claude, to the European market earlier in May. Available through its web application and iOS app, Claude supports several European languages such as French, German, Spanish, and Italian since May 14.
Artificial intelligence growth relies on talents and no longer data, as per Amodei. The scarcity of data previously hindered AI development, but synthetic datasets' inception has shifted the main obstacle to a shortage of developer skills. Synthetic data show promise for AI scalability, but Amodei warned about a balanced ratio between synthetic and real-world data, as excess synthetic data may result in weaker, unrealistic datasets.
