Inferno Drainer, a renowned crypto wallet-draining service, has announced its permanent closure after reportedly aiding in the theft of approximately $70 million in crypto assets throughout the current year. The announcement was made on November 26th via Telegram by the Inferno Drainer team. The team plans to keep the necessary files and infrastructure for operating the wallet drainer active to allow users to seamlessly transition to other alternative services. Appreciative to its clients for their support and collaboration, the team elucidated on their inevitable and regrettable end while expressing hope that their service would be remembered as the premier drainer. Despite the imminent closure, the team’s infrastructure would not be eliminated, thus allowing for smooth user transitions. Inferno Drainer gained traction earlier this year following the closure of Monkey Drainer, a similarly positioned tool. Inferno offered its crypto draining software to users in exchange for 20% share of the illicit gains. According to Scam Sniffer, a Web3 anti-scam tracking platform, Inferno Drainer has been responsible for stealing roughly $70 million from over 100,000 victims since February. Despite this, the Inferno Drainer team indicated that the total stolen amount exceeded $80 million. Following this announcement, the Inferno Drainer team deactivated the "mr_inferno_drainer" affiliate Telegram account, which was instrumental in facilitating the service. They also issued a cautionary advice to users against trusting other draining services that may use its name in future. CertiK, a blockchain security company, described Inferno Drainer as one of the most significantly harmful phishing kits witnessed by the cryptocurrency community. Although Inferno Drainer is bowing out, there remain numerous service providers including Pink Drainer and Angel Drainer. Angel Drainer released an update on November 25th to assist users with draining wallets on additional blockchains. It's important to mention that Monkey Drainer, another impactful crypto drainer service, ceased operations in March earlier this year with a similar sentiment that it was time to progress towards something superior.
