Immutable Introduces Innovative Wallet Infrastructure 'Immutable Passport' and Promises Gas-Free Transactions by 2024

Algoine News
Summary:
Immutable, a Web3 game publisher, has launched its new wallet infrastructure dubbed "Immutable Passport," allowing users to establish and recover their wallets via Apple, Google, or email. The infrastructure has been adopted by five games and applications, with a total user base of over 500K. Apart from this, a dashboard is also debuted to ease game discovery, fund managing, third-party wallet linking, and in-game item control. Immutable Passport ensures security in its email-based signups by encrypting and storing the users' private keys within the Amazon Web Services Hardware Security Module (HSM). Lastly, Immutable introduced Transak as a new payment feature and plans for a gas-free transaction function by 2024.
Web3 game publisher Immutable introduced its unique wallet infrastructure named "Immutable Passport" as stated in their Dec.19th press release. With this novel login method, users can set up and regain access to their wallet via a Google or Apple account or their email address. Upon launch, the features of the Immutable Passport were incorporated by five different games and applications: Gods Unchained, Blocklete Golf, B/R Watch 2 Earn, TokenTrove, and AtomicHub. These platforms collectively have a user base exceeding half a million, as per the press release. In addition to its wallet infrastructure, Immutable also launched a dashboard that surfaces post-login. The dashboard will enable players to locate new games without hassle, hold and increase funds, connect third-party wallets, and oversee all in-game items within a single familiar interface. Immutable, in an earlier blog authored in August, shared the findings of a market survey indicating that gamers are twice as likely to opt for a wallet using the Immutable Passport compared to a conventional wallet. In a detailed explanation to Cointelegraph back in May, Immutable outlined how user funds are secured by the Passport during email-based signups. In this context, the Passport uses Magic's software development kit to create a private key at the first login. This key is encrypted and dispatched to the Hardware Security Module (HSM) of Amazon Web Services for storage. Both Immutable and Magic cannot access this key since entry to the HSM is managed via a device-specific token sent via email to the user. Immutable categorizes the Passport as a "noncustodial" login solution, asserting it doesn’t necessitate users to rely on Immutable for safeguarding their funds. The release of Immutable Passport embodies the most recent effort by Immutable to render Web3 gaming more accessible to players. On Dec.11, the team incorporated Transak as a payment option for its games. Later, on Dec. 13, they declared that gas-free transaction options would be available on their zkEVM platform by 2024.
