Immortal Game Disables P2E and NFT Functions over Extensive Cheating Concerns

Algoine News
Summary:
The blockchain-based chess game, Immortal Game, is discontinuing its play-to-earn (P2E) and nonfungible tokens (NFT) features due to rampant cheating issues. Immortal Game developers decided to halt offering large cash rewards, a move previously made to encourage fair gameplay, as it resulted in widespread dishonest practices. Thus, its NFT marketplace is set to cease, and players will no longer utilize the in-game P2E Checkmake token (CMT). Rewards tied to the completion of tournaments or daily awards will no longer be in CMT, paving the way for possible fiat currency rewards in the future.
The developers behind the blockchain-based chess game, Immortal Game, have decided to deactivate its play-to-earn (P2E) and nonfungible tokens (NFT) features due to extensive cheating. As per the announcement issued on December 13, the developers are retaining their focus on establishing Immortal Game as a digital chess platform and might explore the prospects of integrating additional decentralized technologies in due course. However, their aspiration to "provide people with a chance to generate revenue through chess" via Immortal Game was not successful. The creators mention that offering substantial cash rewards without any entry limit induced rampant cheating on their platform, negatively affecting the gameplay for genuine players looking for an honest, secure online chess venue. The inadvertent repercussion of monetary incentives was the increased prevalence of unfair tactics. Beginning this week, the NFT marketplace for Immortal Game will cease to exist, and the application of the in-game P2E Checkmake token (CMT) by players will be withdrawn. However, NFTs will persist on-chain. Furthermore, players will no longer receive CMT for completing tournaments or daily awards; instead, conventional currency rewards might be made available for such accomplishments in the future. The announcement includes, "Your ETH and CMT account balances will no longer be visible on our platform, but these tokens will remain in your wallets. For users employing a custodial wallet, you will have to link a personal wallet to transfer your assets." At the moment of discontinuation, the trading volume of Immortal Game NFTs throughout their existence amounted to $885,600, while the CMT token reported a fully diluted market capitalization of $360,075. These NFTs are created on the gaming-centric Immutable blockchain.
