IEEE Adopts Avalanche's Blockchain Tech for Secure Credentialing in India

Algoine News
Summary:
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) intends to use Avalanche's blockchain technology to create tamper-proof certificates for its more than 75,000 members in India. The certifications will be issued through LegitDoc, a system developed by Zupple Labs. The Indian public sector has exhibited a growing interest in extensive blockchain projects, leading to the use of Avalanche’s C-Chain due to its compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. The partnership reflects the increasing endorsement of blockchain in education credentialing, paving the way for broader Web3 participation.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) plans to employ Avalanche's blockchain technology for generating secure, tamper-resistant certificates in India, which is IEEE's second-largest membership base after the U.S, having over 75,000 members. The professional association aims to issue its credentials to all trainees and users, ensuring a verification system that is tamper-proof, instantaneous, and secure. IEEE will be granting these blockchain-enabled certificates through LegitDoc, a blockchain-designed credential lifecycle management system developed by Zupple Labs. Zupple's co-founder, Neil Martis, mentioned to Cointelegraph that there's been an increased willingness to execute comprehensive blockchain projects in the Indian public sector over the past year. The choice to employ Avalanche’s C-Chain as the chief settlement layer for IEEE’s credential issuance was born out of the need for an ecosystem that is congruous with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). However, Martis indicated an openness to using new platforms as additional concurrent settlement layers as suitable new tech materializes. Devika Mittal, who heads Avalanche’s Indian division, concurred with Martis's decision, asserting that Avalanche's EVM compatibility facilitates the deployment of widely utilized applications like credential registries and identity management, making the developmental process easier for developers. Mittal pointed out that leading institutions like SK Planet and JP Morgan Onyx prefer Avalanche as their chosen blockchain. She suggests that organizations planning to integrate blockchain should first identify the challenges and subsequently select a chain that can ensure the sustenance, immutability, and security of the solutions. The partnership between IEEE and Zupple Labs will result in hundreds of thousands of tamper-proof credentials being issued to India's engineering fraternity. This announcement underscores IEEE’s endorsement of blockchain in education credentialing, setting a powerful example and promoting wider Web3 participation.
