Greg Solano Reinstated as Yuga Labs CEO; Sets Sights on Metaverse Project and BAYC Expansion
Summary:
Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) co-creator Greg Solano has replaced Daniel Alegre as CEO of Yuga Labs. Solano's return has seen a 10% rise in BAYC's floor prices. He has also announced plans to accelerate the metaverse project, Otherside. As another strategic move, a new subsidiary company, "BAYC LLC", has been set up to deal with all BAYC-related matters. Yuga Labs also anticipates hosting an "Apes Come Home" playtest event for Otherside later this month.
Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) nonfungible token (NFT) co-creator, Greg Solano, has stepped into the position of CEO at Yuga Labs. He replaces previous office holder, Daniel Alegre, who took on the role just last year. Solano, a founder of the company, confirmed this change in a February 21st post, stating his readiness to steer their next ventures.
Yuga Labs, under Solano's guidance, aims to enhance BAYC's utility by fostering creativity and establishing further partnerships. He emphasized that BAYC's value lies within its club members and underlined past successful efforts that have broadened its brand, including the projects ApeFest and Made by Apes. Solano's objective is to empower the BAYC team at Yuga as broadly as possible to achieve its vision.
On another note, Solano disclosed the formation of a new firm, "BAYC LLC," an offshoot of Yuga, which will handle all BAYC matters. He's also looking to expedite their forthcoming metaverse initiative, Otherside. An "Apes Come Home" playtest event for Otherside is expected later this month.
Former Yuga Labs CEO, Alegre, who held executive positions at Activision Blizzard previously, voiced his gratitude for his tenure at Yuga Labs and predicted a positive trajectory for the company's future. His departure and Solano's subsequent step into the role impacted BAYC floor prices, which rose about 10% to hit $69,750 or 23.85 Ether (ETH)
Solano, along with Wylie Aronow, Zeshan Ali and Kerem Atalay, founded Yuga Labs in February 2021. Aronow, however, is currently experiencing health challenges and is involved with Yuga Labs only to a limited extent.
