Google Cloud Launches Web3 Portal for Blockchain Developers amidst Mixed Reactions

Algoine News
Summary:
Google Cloud has launched a new Web3 portal offering resources for blockchain developers, including datasets and NFT creation tutorials. However, the portal received mixed reviews from the cryptocurrency sector. The platform provides developers with products and testnet tokens to test their decentralized applications on Ethereum's Sepolia and Holesky testnets. Furthermore, Google Cloud has recently introduced wallet balance searches across various blockchains and changed its policies to allow advertising for certain crypto products. Last year, Google focused on forming partnerships in readiness for this year's portal launch, integrating its BigQuery data warehouse with MultiversX and 11 different blockchain networks.
Google Cloud has unveiled a fresh Web3 gateway packed with tools aimed at blockchain programmers, featuring datasets and guides on crafting non-fungible tokens (NFT). However, feedback from the crypto world has been varied. As Phil Geiger, Vice President of product marketing at Unchained stated on an X post on April 25, "The absence of standard Bitcoin and lightning backing? Overlooking the foremost cryptocurrency seems to be a mistake." "Google is lagging; not astounded," pseudonymous crypto speculator MartyParty informed his 80,700 X followers on April 26. Contrastingly, some had a more welcoming attitude towards the unveiling. Ivaibi Festo, Mitroplus labs' founder, referred to the Web3 platform as a "thorough resource" in an X post on April 25. As per Google Cloud's site, coders have access to numerous products and can gain testnet tokens for executing and assessing their decentralized applications (DApps) on Ethereum testnets Sepolia and Holesky. It also offers a learning program with guides on NFT development, Web3 loyalty scheme deployment, and securing digital holdings with a multi party calculation (MPC). This launch is among Google's latest forays into the Web3 sector. It recently added wallet balance searches across various blockchains like Bitcoin, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Polygon, and Fantom to its features. In early 2024, Google revised its regulations to allow specific crypto commodities to advertise on key search engines, including Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETF). Google seemed focused on building partnerships last year, gearing up for this year's portal inauguration. In October 2023, Google Cloud's BigQuery data warehouse combined with MultiversX to provide Web3 enterprises and users with rich insights gathered from robust data analysis and AI tools within the Google Cloud space. Just a month prior, in September 2023, Google's BigQuery incorporated 11 blockchain networks to its data storage base, including Avalanche, Arbitrum, Cronos, Ethereum's Görli testnet, Fantom, Near, Optimism, Polkadot, Polygon's mainnet, Polygon's Mumbai testnet, and Tron.
