G2A Launches NFT Marketplace for Curated Web3 Games, Establishes New Gaming Hub
Summary:
Digital game vendor G2A has launched a marketplace for nonfungible tokens (NFTs) related to Web3 games, providing exposure to curated Web3 and NFT games. This move follows the company's observation that gamers are quite familiar with and engaged in the blockchain gaming industry. G2A Capital Group CEO Bartosz Skwarczek announced their new project, G2A Geekverse, which will serve as an online platform for Web3 gaming fans to find information about games and trade digital assets associated with them. Traditional gaming distributors have also displayed growing interest in accepting NFT games since 2023.
Not long ago, G2A, a giant in the digital game sales industry, started a platform for unique digital assets, also known as nonfungible tokens (NFTs), that are utilized in Web3 games, thereby broadening its product array. As per the information shared with Cointelegraph, the fresh initiative, which kicked off on November 15, seeks to spotlight Web3 and NFT games chosen by G2A's team. Through this, gaming enthusiasts can discover the possibilities of blockchain-based gaming and explore NFTs from games affiliated with G2A.
The CEO of the G2A Capital Group, Bartosz Skwarczek, shared via a communique that they have been tracking the evolution of the blockchain gaming industry from the inception of the NFT gaming venture, Cryptokitties. They've found that, contrary to some public belief that gamers shy away from crypto, most gamers are quite familiar with blockchain gaming and even dabble in Web3 games, and some have been involved in NFT trading from games.
In light of this realization, the digital game vendor has rolled out G2A Geekverse to create a virtual hub for Web3 game enthusiasts. Within this space, according to Skwarczek, gamers will be able to unearth information about premier Web3 games and get the chance to purchase and sell digital assets linked to those games.
Since 2023, traditional game distributors have slowly been adopting Web3 gaming. Last July, the Google Play Store began accepting NFT games, albeit with some limitations. Based on the information from their team, games presenting NFTs for purchase or earning will be allowed, but the platform strictly prohibits any form of gambling with NFTs. Similarly, Epic Games, a renowned game developer and publisher, has also shown interest in Web3 gaming. On June 22, it listed Gods Unchained on the Epic Games Store. This NFT trading card game features gameplay similar to renowned titles like Magic: The Gathering and Hearthstone. Also, the game marketplace is well on its way to featuring another blockchain-based game, Illuvium, on November 28.
