Algoine News
Summary:
Vietnamese IT firm FPT and global semiconductor leader Nvidia plan to co-fund a $200 million artificial intelligence (AI) factory in Vietnam. The initiative aims to create a comprehensive hub for AI and cloud computing in the country, with targets including AI applications, GPU infrastructure, and localized technical expertise. FPT intends to make Vietnam an international AI hub, while Nvidia will contribute cutting-edge AI technology. Also, Nvidia's programs will integrate into the national educational system, aiming to reach a minimum of 30,000 students.
Vietnam-based IT firm FPT is joining forces with Nvidia, an international titan in semiconductor chip production, to fund and develop a $200 million factory devoted to artificial intelligence (AI) in Vietnam. In a shared statement released on April 23, the firms disclosed their ambitious plan for an all-encompassing hub for AI and cloud computing within the country, with a broad range of objectives including AI applications, GPU infrastructure, and building technical and domain expertise for local entities. FPT will allocate financial resources to the factory - envisioned as a "national cloud," while Nvidia will pitch in its cutting-edge technology involving AI enterprise software, frameworks, and Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPUs. As per the statement, the aspiration for FPT is to elevate Vietnam to an "AI center of the world" status, to promote it as an AI-dedicated nation and to foster the uptake of AI solutions in nearby countries such as Japan and Korea. Keith Strier, Nvidia's Vice President for Worldwide AI, hailed AI for its capacity to "enhance lives and bolster the economies of all nations", emphasizing its role in propelling innovation in diverse sectors like healthcare, agriculture, climate, and manufacturing. FPT's corporate customers will benefit from the factory's cloud GPU services that will be instrumental in enhancing AI applications' features and performance. Generative AI services from end-to-end will also be offered. Moreover, the collaboration will see Nvidia's programs being integrated into educational syllabuses, training agendas, and lab amenities at educational institutions across the nation, aiming to reach at least 30,000 students. In December 2023, Nvidia's CEO announced plans to extend collaborations in Vietnam to attract local AI talent. This followed business agreements and alliances worth multiple billion dollars between the United States and Vietnam in September 2023, aimed at enhancing AI cooperation and strengthening the semiconductor supply chain. This meeting saw representation from heads of major tech entities in the AI sphere, including Nvidia, Microsoft, and Google.
