Meanwhile, popular cryptocurrency influencer Ben 'Bitboy' Armstrong is arrested during a live stream.
Lauren Belive, a previous employee of the White House, is taking on a role as the leader of Ripple's policy and government division. Meanwhile, Bitspay, a crypto exchange boasting trades up to $1.7 billion a day on-site and $1.4 billion on CoinMarketCap, has reportedly provided incorrect licensing information and falsely claimed it was licensed in Estonia, as uncovered by a Cointelegraph probe. Moreover, crypto-sphere notable Ben 'Bitboy' Armstrong was apprehended while filming a live stream outside the house of an ex-business partner. Lauren Belive, a former staffer at the White House’s Office of Legislative Affairs and policy director with the United States House Committee on Rules, has signed on to lead Ripple's domestic public policy and government efforts. As per a LinkedIn announcement posted on September 26, Belive claimed she was proud to join Ripple and spearhead their initiatives in Washington D.C. and the entirety of the U.S. Given the evolution of the regulatory landscape, she stressed the importance of advocating for policies that sustain the crypto sector and the people and businesses that may benefit from such developments. An investigation by Cointelgraph has flagged a number of cryptocurrency platforms falsely claiming to hold crypto licenses despite listing billions of dollars of daily trades on CoinMarketCap. Bitspay, a crypto exchange that reports a $1.4 billion daily trading volume on CoinMarketCap, claimed licensed status in Estonia and regulation under Estonian law. However, after Cointelegraph requested clarification on this license, the company quickly wiped its dubious license information. As of now, Bitspay ranks as the fourth largest crypto exchange by daily trading volume on CoinMarketCap, behind platforms such as Binance, BitForex, and Topcredit International. But, according to Estonian authorities, Bitspay has never held a legitimate license in Estonia. The license number cited by Bitspay is linked to an Estonian company, Globe Assets OÜ. Bitspay is only one example of the numerous platforms reporting significant trading volumes on CoinMarketCap while providing scant background information on their licenses, founders, or origins. And while CoinMarketCap acknowledges that self-reported data can be flawed, it insisted on the relevance of its scoring system, highlighting that platforms like Bitspay, Topcredit, and Bika experience significantly lower scores than major exchanges. In other crypto news, Ben Armstrong, a crypto influencer, was detained during a live feed outside a former business associate's house. Armstrong claimed that the associate had his Lamborghini and insinuated dangerous connections with the Houston mafia. After officers arrived and questioned him, the live stream went blank and his arrest presumably took place shortly after.
