Conduit Unveils Affordable, Fast Layer-3 Rollup Deployment Platform for Ethereum and Other Networks

Algoine News
Summary:
Blockchain infrastructure firm Conduit has unveiled a new platform that allows users to create and deploy a layer-3 rollup on Ethereum or other networks affordably and quickly. This move aims to make transactions even cheaper, with plans ranging from $50 to $3,000 a month. The deployment of these rollups is expected to significantly reduce Ethereum and layer-2 transaction fees by increasing the block space availability.
Conduit, a firm specialising in Blockchain infrastructure, has recently unveiled a new platform that enables users to construct and implement a layer-3 rollup on Ethereum or alternative networks quickly and inexpensively. This announcement was published on February 21st, emphasising that layer 3s with "ultra high-throughput" would further reduce transaction costs. Base and OP Mainnet, both Layer 2 networks, allow hundreds of distinct applications to perform swiftly and inexpensively, according to a blog post by Conduit. However, Conduit also highlighted how certain applications requiring even more cost-effective computing and dedicated blockspace could utilise L3 networks without vying for blockspace, thereby scaling to meet their demand. Just a week after revealing a similar solution for layer-2 rollups on February 15th, Conduit introduced these new features. Conduit proposes a range of packages, with the most affordable $50-a-month package allowing users to create a rollup on Ethereum’s Sepolia testnet, and a $3,000-a-month scheme permitting deployment on mainnet. The Conduit app offers users the option to select either Optimism’s OP Stack or Arbitrum Orbit for rollup framework and Ethereum, Base, Zora, or Mode for the settlement layer where transactions of the rollup are validated. Users could also request for the rollup transaction data to be posted to either Ethereum or Celestia. Paradigm market development manager, Nick Martitsch, posited that launching a rollup had never been simpler. Nonetheless, concerns regarding the ease of launching rollups were raised by some commentators. Users will have to consider an $8,150 deployment fee for the mainnet scheme, which equals 2.79 Ether (ETH) currently. The deployment process for the rollup will take around 15 minutes. Conduit will also retain 7.5% of revenue generated from the layer 3 rollup. According to the company, these layer 3 solutions will drastically reduce transaction fees on Ethereum and layer 2 by making block space more abundant. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin suggested in a post from September 2022 that layer 3s could offer “customised functionality” to respond to users' on-chain requirements. He was, however, skeptical of using the same scaling scheme repeatedly. Conversely, a three-layer architecture where the second and third layers serve distinct purposes could hold promise, he added.
