Bitmain Launches New Air-Cooled Bitcoin Miner Antminer T21 and Introduces Price Protection Plan

Algoine News
Summary:
Bitmain, a leading ASIC producer, has launched its latest air-cooled Bitcoin miner, the Antminer T21, which can function effectively in temperatures up to 45 degrees Celsius. The new miner supports SHA256 mining, used for proof-of-work cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, and offers 190 terahashes per second and a power efficiency rate of 19 joules per terahash. Bitmain also introduced a price protection plan to shield miners from potential cryptocurrency price drops. The Antminer T21 is expected to start shipping in January 2024.
Bitmain, the globally recognized Bitcoin (BTC) application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC) producer, has officially launched its latest air-cooled BTC miner, the Antminer T21. On October 26th, Bitmain unveiled its new introduction, the Antminer T21, via Twitter. This innovative miner utilizes air-cooling technology and can endure environmental temperatures up to 45 degrees Celsius. The global debut of the Antminer T21 took place at the Blockchain Life 2023 Forum held in Dubai, as explained by Xmei Lin, Bitmain's marketing director. Bitmain was notably one of the significant "diamond sponsors" of this event. The firm's latest mining solution will begin shipping in January 2024, a spokesperson conveyed to Cointelegraph. The air-cooled miner supports SHA256 mining, the algorithm employed for mining proof-of-work (PoW) cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. It can also mine forked versions of the currency, such as Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Bitcoin SV (BSV). The Antminer T21 boasts a processing power of 190 terahashes per second and a power efficiency rate of 19 joules per terahash. At the same event, Bitmain presented a price protection plan for Antminer T21 purchasers, designed to assist miners should cryptocurrency prices fall. This plan is available until November 25th, 2023, and offers customers protection against potential declines in the BTC price over one, three, or six months. If the BTC price drops below the agreed rate at any point during the protected period, customers will receive a payout in cash "immediately upon the triggering event." In addition to the Antminer T21, Bitmain produces numerous mining devices. They stand among diverse ASIC miner manufacturers, including Canaan, MicroBT, Bitfury, and more. Canaan, previously known as Avalon, was one of the world's first companies to launch a Bitcoin mining ASIC in January 2013. This opened the door for mass-scale cryptocurrency mining due to a substantial increase in hashing power compared to traditional GPU and CPU setups. A decade after launching its initial mining device, Canaan continues manufacturing new miners. In September, Canaan released its A14 series miners on its 10th anniversary, and on October 26th, Canaan presented its environmentally-friendly A1466 and A1466I miners in the Middle East. However, the ASIC industry faced obstacles over recent years. Reports show that by late 2022, ASIC miners’ price per terahash had dropped over 80% from its 2021 peak due to an influx of new miners in the market. In August 2023, Blockstream, the blockchain technology company, aimed to raise $50 million to acquire and store mining equipment on secondary markets, preparing for the anticipated Bitcoin halving in 2024.
