Anurag Arjun Advocates for Developer-Friendly Blockchain Infrastructure for Greater Scalability

Algoine News
Summary:
Anurag Arjun, the founder of Avail and co-founder of Polygon, underscored the importance of creating developer-friendly blockchain infrastructure for scaling blockchain apps, in an interview with Cointelegraph. Developer-focused scaling solutions like Layer-2 rollups were highlighted as a requirement for improving blockchain-based decentralized apps (dApps). The Web3 data availability and consensus layer, Avail, co-founded by Arjun, recently secured $27 million in seed funding. The funds will boost the development of its core products, with the aim of simplifying user experiences and attracting mainstream interest.
Anurag Arjun, the founder of Avail and co-founder of Polygon, believes attracting developers by constructing blockchain infrastructure is essential for widespread blockchain application scalability. In an interview with Cointelegraph on March 7, Arjun stressed the importance of minimizing obstacles for developers. He drew parallels with the evolution of mobile applications, noting that early versions were simplistic and it took considerable time and experimentation to develop complex apps such as Uber and Instagram. Arjun went on to emphasize the need for developer-focused scaling solutions like Layer-2 rollups to enhance decentralized blockchain-based applications (dApps). He maintains the real potential of these solutions lies in developers' ability to work speedily on this infrastructure to create scalable apps with mass appeal. Electric Capital’s Jan. 17 report revealed a 24% decrease in average monthly active developers in 2023 dropping to 22,411 from the previous year’s number. The firm attributes this fall to a high influx of new developers joining in 2022. Despite an overall decrease, the report pointed out growth in the most valuable developer segment, with 2+ years of tenor contributing the most code. When discussing future blockchain scalability, Arjun predicted the emergence of hundreds of specialized rollups unified under a user-friendly app layer. This, he believes, would mirror today's Web2 shopping experiences, simplifying online buying. He elaborated by likening this to Amazon's buy button which, unbeknownst to the user, conceals a complex process. Arjun concluded that similarly, Web3 infrastructure will need to simplify user experiences to gather broader mainstream interest. Arjun, also the co-founder of the Web3 data availability and consensus layer, Avail, recently closed a $27 million seed funding round, with Founders Fund and Dragonfly leading. This financing will facilitate the continued unification of Web3, supporting the development of the company's “Avail Trinity” - comprising of a data availability layer, a nexus unification layer, and a fusion security layer. In a related development, Ethena has become the highest-earning DApp in crypto.
