AltLayer Kicks Off $100M Token Airdrops; Similar Initiatives from Dymension and Jupiter Follow
Summary:
AltLayer, an Ethereum scaling solution, has initiated a token airdrop worth over $100 million, becoming the first among three such protocols. Celestia stakers will have to wait due to technical issues. Other projects are also expected to drop their respective tokens soon, including Dymension's 70 million DYM tokens and Jupiter exchange's JUP token. Furthermore, Bitcoin Ordinals users might be eligible for an airdrop through a platform named "Runestone". However, caution is advised against scam accounts on the X platform that misrepresent official crypto firms and create fraudulent airdrop claim websites.
AltLayer, an Ethereum scaling solution, has taken a lead by becoming the first across three protocols announcing a round of token airdrops amounting to more than $100 million throughout this week. The ALT token claiming platform was initiated on January 25th at 9 am UTC with an initial allotment of 300 million tokens, approx valuing $96 million at the present rate of $0.32 per token. AltLayer released an update stating that the ALT Airdrop can now be claimed from the official airdrop website.
Celestia stakers, however, will need to be patient to receive their share of ALT. The delay, as claimed by the brand, is due to some differences in the technical aspect of claiming. Along with AltLayer, several other projects are in the pipeline to introduce their respective tokens to entitled individuals in the week following. Anticipated to go live soon, multilayer rollout deployer Dymension is lined up to air-drop 70 million DYM tokens. Mostly targeted towards Celestia stakers and Pudgy Penguin NFT holders but open to participants from the Solana and Ethereum ecosystem as well. However, the DYM drop closed on January 21, restricting the claim to those late in the process. DYM is being traded at the decentralized exchange Aevo at an approximate $210 million total value at the current price of around $0.31.
On a similar note, Jupiter, a Solana-based decentralized exchange will introduce JUP token on January 31, which is said to trade around $0.41 as per the pre-market rate. Overall, the total worth of the airdrop is estimated to be $410 million. Heading in the same direction, Bitcoin Ordinals users may also be eligible for this initiative named "Runestone", a decentralized platform launched by its developer, Leonidas.
Crypto users are advised to be extra careful on the X platform which is lately seeing a surge in fraudulent activities involving scam accounts misrepresenting official crypto firms. These scammer accounts duplicate posts to trick users into engaging on fake airdrop claims websites that drain wallets.
